Vallarpadam terminal: Source of employment opportunity
Cochin is one of the fastest emerging centers for logistics professionals due to its series of port based projects. International Container Transshipment Terminal of Vallarpadam, Vizhinjam Port, Petronet LNG Terminal and Container Freight Stations are expected to raise fresh demand for logistics professionals from the entire state. With all these pipeline projects by the Container Corporation of India and Central Warehousing Corporation of India will be also looking for people in logistics. Hence, in near future there will be large amount of employment opportunities rising up in Kerala for trained and efficient logistics professionals.
According to the chairman of Cochin Port trust Mr. N. Ramachandran, once the ongoing works at ICTT gets completed by the month of November, it will open new ways in the logistic sector by increasing more number of job opportunities.
Due to ever-growing demand of logistics professionals with larger number of employment opportunities, the qualified logistics professionals will be having quite good scope of career growth in this sector. If the students have given proper training and guidance, it would be definitely a long way to fill up the gaps in growing demand in logistics sector. It will also help out people of Kerala to cope up with the growing unemployment situation in the state.
To overcome such a huge demand of trained logistics professional in the state, opening of Falcon Institute of Logistics and Supply Chain Management has proved to be quite timely. There is also a planning to launch Management Diploma and PG Diploma courses of Falcon Institute of Logistics and Supply Chain Management under Vidyabharathi Group of Institutions.
Several courses targeting to logistics sector are being launched by Falcon Infrastructures in collaboration with Dubai Ports at Kochi. The institution has announced diploma course with 15-month of duration and PG diploma course with one-year of duration along with internship for three-months at the Vallarpadam ICTT, Falcon Freight Station and Cochin Port Trust in Kochi. The course will be commenced from July this year will give admission to 30 students in two batches each. The graduate students will be eligible to get entry in PG Diploma course while undergraduate students will be eligible to get entry in Diploma course.
It is good to see that the dream project of Cochin is coming true. It was a great occasion for the people of Kochi and the shipping trade industry. This project will increase the regional development along with direct and indirect employment opportunities. It will also give a boost to other industries and service sectors that will change the visage of whole Kerala state. Many people will also get an opportunity to start their own business in the surroundings areas of Vallarpadam. This will increase the standard of living of people in the coming future.
It will also develop the trade of Cochin, Alappey, Kottayam, Kollam, Trivandrum etc. giving new developed life. The commissioning of terminal will have lots of benefits and no weakness. The most of important of all is that it will provide job opportunities to minimum 1-lakh peoples. The ICTT project is a blessing for the people there to overcome the situation of rising unemployment throughout state
